Some Musings on the boughs of trees.

I have spent Very much time in and among trees both, and consider myself well-versed on their nature. Sometimes, I have found myself ankle-deep in leaf litter, far from anything but trees and Other Trees. It feels in those moments that I am like a tree myself, rooted in the earth and stretching towards The sky.

Even in the times in my life where i am the least connected to Nature, I feel a link still. At one time not very long ago, I was involved in a project that involved building a skyscraper. In fact, it was my project completely. Although my life went in a different direction, I take ownership and pride in my Skyscraper. When constructing this building, its height was its most important attribute. I was interested in Casting a Large shadow over a baseball field, for my own purposes. You will have no follow-up questions on this matter, as it is obviously explained in completion.

I found myself in a downtown district of stone and metal, and a tall building made of artificial materials and constructed by Cranes and also by my assistant. Even so, I was drawn to lightweight, though less Sturdy, wood. This did mean that my skyscraper was torn down by the hands of the city, but that is not my problem.

Usually, I feel most connected to trees when I am in a tree, which I freqently am. Being in a tree is like a Home, and moving back to a tree after moving to a skyscraper to Be As Mean as possible in felt like returning home. The leaves, branches, and small creatures calm me even more than the mountain or ocean sounds that are available to me. I think that I have developed insight as to what the best aspects of a tree's growth are.

The best type of tree bough is large and can be Climbed. If a tree bough cannot be climbed, one cannot be in the tree, and it is therefore decorative. You must remember that some creatures can climb trees you cannot. The average squirrel or the enterprising larger animal might be able to access boughs you cannot, rendering them non-decorative. Possible solutions to this issue include turning into An Animal with the use of magical power, simply climbing better, or technology.

When I greet a tree bough, I like to say "you are seen." This serves two purposes: one, it can be Validating to the tree bough if it does not feel seen. This boosts its mood. Two, it is an Implicit Threat because I do not clarify anything except that the bough is seen: not by whom, not when, and not how. If the tree bough is Too Mischevous and Ill-Tempered, this serves to keep it in line. I am in the process of patenting this technique before Santa Claus can get to it.
